Accounting Curriculum (Masters)
The Master of Arts in Accounting and Finance program at Select College is designed to provide students with a comprehensive understanding of advanced accounting and finance principles, as well as the skills necessary to excel in the field. The curriculum is carefully crafted to meet the demands of the industry and equip students with the knowledge and expertise required for successful careers in accounting and finance.
The program consists of a diverse range of courses that cover both theoretical concepts and practical applications. Here are some of the key courses and their objectives:
1. Financial Accounting: This course aims to develop a deep understanding of financial reporting and analysis. Students will learn how to prepare and interpret financial statements, analyze financial data, and make informed decisions based on financial information.
2. Managerial Accounting: The objective of this course is to provide students with the tools and techniques needed to support managerial decision-making. Topics covered include cost analysis, budgeting, performance measurement, and strategic planning.
3. Corporate Finance: This course focuses on the financial management of corporations. Students will learn about capital budgeting, risk and return analysis, valuation techniques, and financial planning. The objective is to enable students to make sound financial decisions in a corporate setting.
4. Auditing and Assurance: This course explores the principles and practices of auditing, including the role of auditors, audit planning, internal controls, and audit reporting. The objective is to equip students with the skills necessary to assess and evaluate the reliability of financial information.
5. Financial Markets and Institutions: This course provides an in-depth understanding of financial markets, including stocks, bonds, derivatives, and other financial instruments. Students will learn about the functioning of financial institutions and the impact of regulatory frameworks on the financial system.
6. Taxation: The objective of this course is to familiarize students with the principles of taxation and its implications for individuals and businesses. Topics covered include income tax, corporate tax, tax planning, and tax compliance.
7. Research Methods in Accounting and Finance: This course aims to develop students’ research skills and critical thinking abilities. Students will learn how to conduct empirical research, analyze data, and present their findings effectively.
Throughout the program, students will also have the opportunity to engage in case studies, group projects, and practical simulations to apply their knowledge in real-world scenarios. For MA candidates
If you are a Bachelor degree in Accounting, or in any of the disciplines in business, economics or management, you are warmly welcome. this is because accounting is a discipline which is known to its interdisciplinary nature. Particularly, if you come from a business background, congratulations! you already have the fundamental knowledge and skills needed for your further study. However, if you come from other area, you are still welcome, but you probably need to take few bridging courses.
MBA Tuition Fee
The total Tuition fee for the two years Master’s study in Accounting and Finance is ETB 38,400 for both regular and evening programs. This amount do NOT include your stationary and other related expenses. In addition, it should be noted that the college may increase the tuition fee based on the annual inflation analysis.
As we are currently developing a 100% online program, the tuition fee for the Online program would be posted here once it is launched.
Tuition fee installments
You can pay your total tuition fee according to your choice of our two installment mechanisms. At registration, you will be given the choice to select either to make payments on monthly basis or on Credit hours basis.

Registration to the program will be done online via the College’s official website. https://Select.edu.et Alternatively students may visit our office in-person and get resisted. Students’ registration to a program involves completing the online application Form and making payment. If there is any problem regarding payment, the applicant should contact the finance office at finance@select.edu.et to get support.
