WELCOME THE LIBRARY SYSTEM OF SELECT COLLEGE

The Library system of Select College is a home for thousands of books, academic journals fiction and non-fiction works in a network of digital libraries and international online journal databases. If you would like to access, read or download the resources, you need to know our network of libraries with their hosting campus and local library. If you would like to browse our library resources, just click the link in the box on the left sidebar of this page. For instance, if you would like to access our digital Libraries, you need to click the SELECT DIGITAL LIBRARY icon among the list of libraries located on the left side of this page. 

The following are the libraries and library resources dispersed across select college campuses.

1. Our Campus Libraries

At Select College, we are proud to offer exceptional library facilities at both our Ayer-Tena and Megenagna campuses, catering to the diverse needs of our postgraduate and undergraduate students. The postgraduate libraries are designed to provide a conducive environment for advanced research and scholarly pursuits, offering extensive collections of specialized literature, access to leading academic journals, and quiet study areas for focused learning. Meanwhile, our undergraduate libraries are vibrant hubs of intellectual activity, providing comprehensive resources to support undergraduate coursework, group study spaces, and access to digital tools for collaborative projects. Both libraries are staffed with knowledgeable professionals who are dedicated to assisting students in their academic endeavors. Whether you are pursuing postgraduate studies or working towards your undergraduate degree, our libraries at Ayer-Tena and Megenagna campuses are here to empower your academic journey.

2. Our Digital Library

At present, the Digital Library of Select College houses over 6,000 books, articles, journals, and other literary works. Furthermore, its collection is growing continuously. Upon enrollment, all students of Select College will be granted automatic membership. Once you obtain your library membership ID number, you can access the library, borrow, or download books, articles, and other resources.

3. Emerald Journal Library

The EMERALD Journal Library is a treasure trove of academic resources, housing a vast collection of scholarly journals, articles, and books. The library is dedicated to supporting research and learning, offering a diverse range of materials to aid students, faculty, and researchers in their academic endeavors. With a focus on quality and relevance, the EMERALD Journal Library is a vital resource for those seeking to expand their knowledge and engage with the latest developments in their field.

Accessing Resources on Campus:
When on campus, simply connect to the college’s Wi-Fi network and visit the library website to access the full range of resources available.

Accessing Resources Off Campus:
Off Campus access means when you would like to access resources from your home or somewhere else other that your college campus internet network.  This access is particularly important for online program students and faculty members.

Navigating campas library resources:

To make the most of your experience, here are some instructions on how to navigate our collection, organized using the Dewey Decimal cataloging system:

1. Understanding the Dewey Decimal System: The Dewey Decimal system categorizes books into 10 main classes, each assigned a unique three-digit number. These classes cover a wide range of subjects, from philosophy and religion to technology and the arts.

2. Locating Books: When searching for a book, use our library catalog or ask our friendly staff for assistance. Each book will have a call number, which is a combination of numbers and letters that corresponds to its subject in the Dewey Decimal system.

3. Browsing the Shelves: Once you have the call number, head to the shelves and look for the matching number. Books are arranged in numerical order, making it easy to locate the section you need.

4. Seeking Assistance: If you’re having trouble finding a book or understanding the Dewey Decimal system, don’t hesitate to approach our librarians. We are here to help you locate resources and make the most of your time in the library.

With a focus on quality and relevance, the EMERALD Journal Library is a vital resource for those seeking to expand their knowledge and engage with the latest developments in their field.

Select College pays subscription fee to access Emerald Journal Library. Thus students and faculty members can freely access  to a wealth of academic resources and other collection of scholarly journals, articles, and books that are essential for students research and academic pursuits.

Accessing Resources on Campus:
When on campus, simply connect to the college’s Wi-Fi network and visit the library website to access the full range of resources available.

Accessing Resources Off Campus:
Off Campus access means when you would like to access resources from your home or somewhere else other that your college campus internet network.  This access is particularly important for online program students and faculty members. 

To access resources from off campus, you must activate your emerald Journal access entitlement. To activate, you must request by sending email to our Online Digital Librarian at library@selectmail.edu.et. Make the subject line of your email “Emerald Journal Access” and provide a working email address in the body. If you gave us a non-working email, you cannot be able verify your email. which results in losing your access. When we activate your Emerald journal account, you will receive an email with a subject “Activate your Emerald Profile”. Please, click the Activate Profile button so that to setup your password. After setting up your account, you can immediately start browsing the academic journals.

Although Emerald Library houses millions of collections, you can only access academic journals for which Select college has holdings for. Those resources marked with green are those we have paid for and those with red circle are resources outside the domain of our subscription. Thus, feel free to access the following resources that are in our holdings:

1. Emerald Business Management & Strategy eJournal Collection (59 Journals and 45,866 Articles)
2. Emerald eJournal Premier Collection (325 Journals and 348,881 Articles)
3. Emerald Accounting, Finance & Economics eJournal Collection (43 Journals and 30346 Articles)
4. Emerald Health and Social Care eJournal Collection (33 Journals and 26657 Articles )

SELECT COLLEGE DIGITAL LIBRARY (SCDL)

At present, the Digital Library of Select College houses over 6,000 books, articles, journals, and other literary works. Furthermore, its collection is growing continuously. Upon enrollment, all students of Select College will be granted automatic membership. Once you obtain your library membership ID number, you can access the library, borrow, or download books, articles, and other resources.

College Library Membership

Every active student has the right to access the full resources of Select College. Although some of the library resources are free to download for students, electronic books with copyright protection shall be accessible only for online reading.  Thus, membership subscription is required for this purpose. All students will get a username and password for as soon as they complete registration in any program. Any student with the Library membership ID can access all resources including the journals the University has subscribed for. 

You will be given your Library membership ID and password with or at the same time you have received your Formal Admission Letter from the Office of Admission and the Registrar.
