Accounting Curriculum (Bachelor Degree)
The Bachelor of Arts (BA) in Accounting and Finance program at Select College is designed to provide students with a comprehensive understanding of both accounting and finance principles. The curriculum is carefully crafted to equip students with the necessary knowledge and skills to excel in the dynamic field of accounting and finance.
The program begins with foundational courses that introduce students to the fundamental concepts and principles of accounting and finance. These courses lay the groundwork for more advanced topics covered in later semesters. The objectives of these courses include:
- Develop a solid understanding of financial accounting principles and practices.
- Gain proficiency in using accounting software and tools.
- Learn to analyze and interpret financial statements.
- Understand the role of ethics and professionalism in accounting and finance.
As students progress through the program, they delve deeper into specialized areas of accounting and finance. Some of the core courses in the curriculum include:
Financial Management: This course focuses on the principles and techniques of financial management, including financial analysis, budgeting, and investment decision-making.
Managerial Accounting: Students learn how to use accounting information for internal decision-making, cost analysis, and performance evaluation.
Taxation: This course covers the principles of taxation, including individual and corporate taxation, tax planning, and compliance.
Auditing: Students gain an understanding of auditing principles and practices, including risk assessment, internal controls, and audit procedures.
Financial Reporting and Analysis: This course focuses on advanced financial reporting standards, including International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS), and teaches students how to analyze financial statements for decision-making purposes.
In addition to these core courses, students have the opportunity to choose from a range of elective courses that align with their interests and career goals. These electives may include topics such as forensic accounting, international finance, or financial modeling.
Throughout the program, students are encouraged to develop critical thinking, problem-solving, and communication skills. They also have opportunities to apply their knowledge through case studies, group projects, and internships.
By the end of the BA in Accounting and Finance program at Select College, graduates will have acquired a strong foundation in accounting and finance principles, as well as the skills necessary to pursue careers in various sectors, including public accounting firms, financial institutions, corporations, and government agencies.

For BA candidates
If you would like to join our Bachelor of Arts Degree program in the Department of Accounting and Finance, you should have a diploma (TVET L-4), another Bachelor degree or a high school completion certificate with a required passing marks or cumulative grade point average (CGPA). These are the marks which are set annually by the Ministry of education.

BA in Accounting Tuition Fee
The Total Tuition fee for the four years BA program in Accounting & Finance is ETB 27,000 for both regular and evening programs. This amount do NOT include your stationary and other related expenses. In addition, it should be noted that the college may increase the tuition fee based on the annual inflation analysis.
As we are currently developing a 100% online program, the tuition fee for the Online program would be posted here once it is launched.
Tuition fee installments
You can pay your total tuition fee according to your choice of our two installment mechanisms. At registration, you will be given the choice to select either to make payments on monthly basis or on Credit hours basis.
- If you would like to make your payments on monthly basis, the monthly tuition fee would be ETB 600 to be paid for 45 months within four years period (ETB 600 x 45 Months = ETB 27,000).
- If you would like to make your payments on Credit Hours basis, the Credit hour
tuition fee would be ETB 200 per Credit Hour. The total credit hours prescribed in the curriculum is 135 Credit Hours to be offered within four years period. Thus, (ETB 200 x 135 Credit Hours = ETB 27,000).
Payment Method
You can make your payment in three different ways:
- Pay cash at our campus cashiers
- Deposit to one of our Commercial Bank of Ethiopia or Awash or Anbessa bank accounts that would be notified with admission letter.
- Pay electronically using payment methods such as TeleBirr,as indicated in your admission letter.
